The last time The Lovers visited us, was about six months ago. In that blog entry, I talked about the most obvious meaning of The Lovers card, love - be it romantic love or your trying to obtain or achieve something you love.
However, The Lovers card also represents duality or the choice of more than one path. Considering this card showed up six months ago, it would probably be a good idea for you to look back at the decisions you made six months ago, which was just after the new year, and see if these decisions or plans still resonate with you.
If you determine that the plans or decisions you made at the beginning of 2010 don't feel right or aren't working as well as you thought, it's time to make new decisions, new plans. At the very least, if you are not where you want to be or thought you would be, amend your earlier decisions or plans. If you feel like the decisions you made six months ago are working, then keep moving forward. If you look back and realize that you really didn't make any decisions or plans, then now would be the time to do so.
And if things aren't going the way you hoped or planned, let me remind you of what the Scottish poet, Robert Burns said:
The best laid schemes of Mice and Men
oft go awry,
And leave us nothing but grief and pain,
For promised joy!
I'm not one who subscribes to the belief that, if something isn't working the way you envisioned, then something is wrong with your thinking. Life is very complex and we're all interconnected, which means that it takes time for each of our desires to manifest. Additionally, it's very possible that someone else's wants or needs might interfere with your plans.
The Universe is vast and it seems to work on its own time, not ours. This means that your Life (or any of our Lives) might sometimes feel like nothing is working, even if you've done everything possible to be successful, including being positive. If you are finding that the plans you laid six months ago are not what you envisioned, then either rework them, and start envisioning anew.
Whatever you do, though, don't beat yourself up, wondering where you went wrong. Chances are, you did nothing wrong. So, take this time to rethink plans that aren't working. Congratulate yourself on plans that are working well, and if you've been a little lazy - which is understandable, considering all the insanity that keeps bombarding us - it would still be a good idea to make a plan, even if it's very short-term. Just take some action.
Even though The Lovers suggests a six-month Life review, don't forget that this card always brings with it joy and fun and love and creativity. So, even if you use next week to do a review of where you were six months ago and where you are now, give yourself time and permission to enjoy Life a bit, too.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of doing numerology readings for our annual and local Llammas festival...and I did a trade with this wonderful gal, as she reads tarot cards too. We did a reading "sort of" on the status of my so-called current 'situation', and I am NOT talking about abs or the Jersey Shore dude! My future card was DEATH. Hahahaha...no suprise there! The Lovers card reminds me that our first and foremost relationship be with ourself and one's Higher Self. So mote it be!!
